Remembering David
Horne and Bob Spong
With
great sadness we wish to inform all friends and family of FHFH that
David Horne, founder of Virginia Hunters
for the Hungry and father of the FHFH model for venison
donation to the hungry, has passed away following his battle with
cancer. His service in this life was a blessing from God to many
millions of hungry people. With David himself playing a key role, his
vision for a national venison donation effort is now a reality. David
was an inspiration from God to all those that knew him. We now carry on
the mission that he shared with us.
We
are also saddened to pass along the news that FHFH has lost a key family
member, Bob Spong, who served as
President of the FHFH Board of Directors. Bob passed away on
Monday April 15th at his home at the age of 76. Bob was a long-time
family friend of FHFH founder and Executive Director Rick Wilson. An
avid hunter and outdoorsman, Bob also served in the U.S. Navy during
WWII. Bob served FHFH as Board President since 1999 and has been a
great asset to the ministry of FHFH. Bob is enjoying life at home now
with his Lord Jesus. His faith in God, experience, wisdom, good nature,
and desire to help others no matter the obstacle will be greatly missed! |
