There is a growing outdoor sport that
combines hunting with the skill of outdoors videography. The “Sport of
Filming Hunts” allow hunters to team up with a buddy to try and
capture a thrilling hunt on video. The Campbell Outdoor Challenge,
founded, owned and operated by John Campbell is one way that hunters
can participate in this sport in an exciting and professional manner.
The “Challenge” involves several teams competing under a strict set of
rules and a standard scoring system. It is important to note that all
hunts are for wild-free ranging animals as well. Each team hunts the
same number of days in similar locations. The 2-man team that obtains
the highest score at the end of the competition is deemed the winner.
Winning teams have the opportunity to receive both cash and exciting
prizes. In addition to competing in this exciting sport, the Campbell
Outdoor Challenge is a nationally televised show that allows hunting
teams to display their skills before a large viewing audience on the
Outdoor Network.
This past December 2005, FHFH Executive Director Rick Wilson and
longtime friend Earl McCauley teamed up for a Campbell Outdoor
Challenge in Carmi, Illinois. This Campbell Outdoor Challenge was a
special competition designed to help out Gulf-Coast victims of
Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Venison taken during the Challenge was
added to additional meat collected and transported to the coast. The
5-day hunt resulted in exciting hunts, new friendships, and help for
the Gulf-Coast and Texas residents.
This December 2006, Campbell Outdoor Challenge is planning another
FHFH benefit competition in Illinois. Find out how you can be a part
of this exciting sport by visiting the Campbell Outdoor Challenge
