FHFH Attends National QDMA Convention

by FHFH Staff

QDMA is one of Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry's (FHFH) most valued sponsors and partners in our quest to feed nutritious venison and other big game to the hungry. QDMA donates $1 from the shipping and handling of all of their merchandise, books, etc. to FHFH. QDMA also encourages each of their Branches to work with and support their local FHFH Chapter and/or begin an FHFH Chapter as a Branch project.

During the weekend of June 24th and 25th several members of the FHFH staff attended the 2006 Quality Deer Management Association’s (QDMA) National Convention in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. Representing FHFH were Executive Director, Rick Wilson and his wife Ann, Director of Operations and Director of Maryland FHFH Josh Wilson and his wife Gwen as well as their daughter Madelyn. FHFH was also represented by Board of Director member Reverend Ray Shriver and his wife Ginger. While setting up and manning the FHFH informational booth at the convention many valuable new friends were made to help raise public and industry awareness of FHFH and to continue developing the positive relationship between QDMA and FHFH.

Comedian and actor Jeff Foxworthy spoke at the convention on the topic of “Blue Collar Quality Deer Management”. During his presentation Jeff encouraged everyone to follow his lead as he plans to develop an FHFH chapter on his property in Georgia.

Finally, a Power Point slide presentation was given by Rick during the Sunday morning worship service. The presentation asked the following two questions: "Why do we hunt?" and "What would prompt Team FHFH members to help their fellowman by donating deer and planting crops for the hungry, chopping firewood for the elderly, taking physically challenged individuals and youngsters hunting, and engaging in many other acts of kindness?"
