sational Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week is held each year the week before Thanksgiving. This is a time for us all to start to think about what we are thankful for, a perfect time to share our compassion with our neighbors who are experiencing hunger and homelessness, and work toward a world where no one has to experience hunger and homelessness.

One in seven Americans struggle with hunger.  Hunger in America has, and continues to be, a real problem for a significant part of our population.  According to Feeding America, in 2013, 14% (17.5 million) of U.S. households were food insecure, meaning that they did not have access to enough food to meet their basic needs.

Inspired by a passion for the outdoors and compassion for the needy, Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry (FHFH) is committed to addressing America's hunger problem in a unique and relevant way.  FHFH enables hunters and farmers in states nationwide to provide nutritious meat to feed the hungry of their communities.  Individuals, businesses, churches, clubs and foundations make contributions to FHFH to help cover the costs of processing, packaging and freezing the meat so there is no charge to those donating deer or livestock or to those receiving the meat.

You can help make a real difference to the hungry people in our country!  Here are some ways you can help:
  • Donate venison or livestock.  Click here to find a participating meat processor in your state.
  • Donate financially to FHFH.  To make an online donation, click here.  FHFH is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization.  All contributions are tax deductible!
  • Volunteer.  Learn more about becoming an FHFH coordinator.

I am wounded warrior recently medically retired from the U.S ARMY I've been hunting and donating to the ministry for a few years now, but recently lost hunting grounds due to constructions. Can you tell me if the organization have land owners near Pasadena, Maryland or within a 60 mile radius that would allow me to harvest for the ministry I am a bow and/or shot gun hunter?

Hello thanks for contacting us and thank you for your service and sacrifice for all of us! I'm sorry to hear about your hunting situation. While we don't really maintain a list of landowners looking for hunters, I can pass your message along to our Maryland director and volunteers in your area to see if anyone can help. If you do find a new place in the meantime let us know!

Denny - one of our volunteers suggested that you contact the security office/department at the Smithsonian Institute in Edgewater, MD. He said they host special wounded warrior hunts each year. If we learn of any further opportunities we'll pass them along!
